Determine the length of the shortest altitude of a triangle whose sides measure 5,12, and 13?

Soo .. how do I do this without having it plotted on graph.. It really doesn’t make sense to me! :S

Thanks <3

Shortest altitude will have longest base
=> 13 is base and let x = altitude on it

5, 12 and 13 make a right triangle with legs 5 and 12
=> Area of triangle
= (1/2) * 5 * 12 = (1/2) * 13 * x
=> x = 60/13 is the shortest altitude.
